It is located in Platanes village, 4km from the town of Rethymno and just 400 meters from the blue flag awarded sandy beach of Platanes. La Stella apartments are situated in the village of Platanes, just 4km from the historical town of Rethymno.
Platanes village is a popular place for holidaymakers. Its sandy beach with its crystal clear waters makes it ideal for those who enjoy swimming, watersports or just lying under the sun. Platanes village has many traditional Cretan taverns, bars and mini markets. There is a regular bus service to and from the town of Rethymno.

It was quiet as the town was just getting geared up for the start of the season but Platanes is a fun, friendly and safe place to be and La Stella is set back from the town just a couple of minutes walk away which maybe a god send in peak season when life is busy and noisy in the height of season. My thanks to Giorgos for his kind welcome and also to Babis keeping us royally entertained while spending time at the hotel. If you want to be in holiday mode very quickly Babis is your man. We didn't get the rooms we reserved and paid for! But Bobias sorted this out very quickly to our satisfaction. The hotel is; in a good spot, takes care with its appearance and has reasonable facilities and services for a small hotel. But it's real advantage is its staff, who couldn't be faulted. | 5 |

In our one night stay the only staff we saw was the cleaner who booked us in and the night porter we came down for a drink before going out and there was no one at all in the reception area. The facilities were very clean, well-designed and modern. I was especially surprised by the spacious room we were given- much bigger than past hotel rooms I have stayed in with a very good sized balcony! The air con worked perfectly which is important in the hot weather and the maid always made the beds ect in the morning. The clientel was cosmopolitan which was a delight as we were not surrounded by lots of English people. The locationw as ideal easy to access the local tavernas and a taxi (8 euros) to the old town was worth it. I would recommend this hotel to all ages however there are a few steps around the hotel.
